OOM: Edward needs to learn how to have fun.

"I think we'll start with Dagobah," Jenny told him as she walked towards the cockpit of her small shuttle. "According to my computer, it's a small swamp planet discovered a thousand years ago by a sect of Jedi who had broken away from the Second Great and Bountiful Human Empire after a deceleration decreeing all religions founded upon fictional works were null and void. There's not much there now. It's been abandoned... um, well, for a while."

She stopped by her chair, turning around to make sure that Edward had indeed followed her from Milliways.

Her shuttle wasn't much, Jenny knew, but she considered it her life. It was the only home she had (unless you counted the room in Milliways) and her only means of actually doing anything. Well, anything remotely interesting. Random knickknacks from various planets were scattered about the room, mostly concentrated away from the cockpit and in the back of the shuttle. A couple of photographs of herself and Bart were taped on to various walls. Her prized piece of psychic paper was lying underneath a stack of books.

It felt more like a home now than when she commandeered it from Messaline.

"Well?" Jenny slid into the pilot's seat and looked at him. "Whatcha think, Edward?"

She laughed at that, letting go of the controls to lean back in her chair. Not much was supposed to happen for those few remaining minutes in hyperspace.

"Uninhabited, remember?" Jenny rolled her eyes, giving him a look that served to remind him of her lack of stupidity. "No one's going to notice because there won't be anyone there. And running's fun. I'm supposed to be teaching you about that, remember? Fun and friendship?"

Edwards smile wasn't present but he had nearly scoffed in amusement at the announcement of her teaching him. That she had taken it on, that he was allowed her to continue her assumption that he didn't know them.

"You want to be run around an uninhibited planet, simply for the act of doing it?"

"Yeah," Jenny answered, eyes still glowing brightly. "Haven't you ever ran for the fun of it? It's brilliant! There's nothing else like it... except maybe sex with Jay. But well, nothing can ever beat running... unless..."

Jenny faltered, looking Edward over with curiosity. "Unless you have better ideas for something fun to do?"

Edward didn't pause at the sex comment but it added to the list of how she viewed, and spoke of, things extraordinarily different from everyone else.

"Running isn't too hard a task." His voice sounded oddly amused.

It would be more entertaining to see that world for him at his speed than it would making himself walk at her pace. It would be more...enjoyable.

"A task doesn't have to be difficult for it to be fun."

That was one thing she was certain of in this world. You could find fun and pleasure in the simplest things. Like running. The freedom involved in that was simply amazing. More than that: it was almost indescribable.

He agreed with her thoughts and her words, but it came out in a different fashion of the same address as he looked at the controls.

She certainly took it as such. Jenny grinned wickedly at him. He was a speed demon, wasn't he? Well, she certainly wouldn't complain. It wasn't the reason why she possibly loved Bart, but his mutual love of speed was definitely a major attractant.

"You bet!"

Less than a split second later, she dropped out of hyperspace and moved into a much faster gear.

He smiled without meaning to, looking between the window and the controls, and her.

"You should smile more," she told him, earnest and sincere in her words. Jenny looked way from the window for a few moments and grinned back. "You look really handsome - handsome is the word, right? - when you do."

She knew he'd probably dismiss her words without much thought, but Jenny didn't care. It was the sort of things friends told each other, wasn't it?

Jenny shrugged again before turning her attention back to her piloting. So he wanted to know how fast, huh? Well, there was only one way to tell him.

And that was to show him. By going as fast as she could; certainly faster than any Aston.

Edward Cullen: Edward Cullen is watching you

Edward had forced the smile to stay at the compliment, but it had stiffened. Her words reminded him of Tanya and of the high school girls, but her thoughts chattered onward innocent and helpful.

She was such a mystery.

Especially as she took that and threw it into flying.

He watched the universe outside of the window flying by, unable not to feel how it loosened how he sat and caused him to lean forward, attentiveness that he didn't struggle to conceal but was surprised she'd found a way to evoke.

"Can I drive us back?"

(He wondered how much time would be ripped apart when he bought one.)

She laughed at his question, too busy focusing on flying to pay any more attention to him than necessary. They were going fast and with Dagobah quickly approaching, she had to watch her movements. Make sure no other ship or space debris cut in front of them, that they wouldn't crash land into the planet, etc.

It wasn't difficult, but it did require some sort of concentration.

"If you think you can handle her!" Jenny laughed again, exuberant at the thought he may be enjoying this. "Maybe I'll let you set the path to Astroland, too. It's the next stop on our adventure."

He wasn't worried about her speed in the least. If he had to he could pick her up and maneuver with quicker control than she could. He just didn't know how the pod operated under sudden conditions.

"Astroland?" The was a dark note in that word, as he finally stopped looking out the window. He could see the idea of it in her mind and was trying not to wince.

"Astroland. A couple I met on Hyspero told me about it. Sounds like the perfect place to go if you want to have fun," Jenny stated, amused by that tone in his voice.

It seemed almost promising in what she decided was an entirely evil and mischievous sort of way. And that? That seemed fun. Well, fun to her anyway. Some voice in Jenny's head told her that Edward would probably think otherwise.

"I figured I ought to give you a whirlwind tour of what most people might think of as fun. There's supposed to be this coaster thing there that goes over 200 miles per hour at its fastest points! It ought to be brilliant!"

Edward's thoughtful expression betrayed the last part not to be as horrid as the first long ramble of explanation. When was the last time he'd been to a carnival? And how many fragile beings would be right near him?

It was hardly the same as an uninhabited, foggy planet.

And yet, his thought lingered on the singular temptation she offered with the new place, thinking he needed to be more careful around her enthuasism.

"You are quite strange," Edward said, but he was smiling as the ship registered their arrival.

She giggled and looked at him after rushing to slow the ship down. There was a sudden lurch, but in retrospect, better to deal with it up here than planet side. Their descent began far more calmly than the slow down had been.

"Is that a good thing, Edward? That you consider me strange?"

Edward didn't lurch, even if he should have. He stayed still in his seat moving with the ship but not the extra burst left which would move a human.

"We'll see." He said with the smile heading toward his normal lopsided smirk.

Jenny wrinkled her nose at him when she saw him stay so still. That, she decided, had to be cheating, even if it was some odd vampire ability.

The ship broke through orbit, racing downward towards a swamp. Maybe they were still moving a tad too fast. Jenny couldn't care less.

"We'll see?" she laughed, raising an eyebrow in his direction. "Oh! I think you need a thesaurus more than I do."

He was pressing his luck, being obvious, but then she'd asked for a display that was far beyond anything he'd done here or in Milliways.

Watching the ground hurtling toward them, he only cocked his head to look at small bits. He could admit it was not the most beautiful place in the world to be asked to come to.

"I have many."

He laughed suddenly.

"Not intergalactic ones."

She couldn't help the wide smile that stretched from ear to ear when she heard him laugh. It sounded genuine and absolutely lovely. Not like Bart's laugh, because nothing could compare to Bart's laugh, but good all the same.

Jenny had been wanting to hear her new friend laugh. It was, after all, a sign of enjoyment, wasn't it?

"Jay got me one as a gift," she explained as the shuttle came to a stop in the air, hovering more like a helicopter now than a plane. "Apparently he does get embarrassed if I ask too many questions about sex. He didn't want to go over all the terms with me in the middle of the bar."

But she had read them from the thesaurus anyway, sitting on his lap and laughing at his reaction. That was a good memory, one that kept her smiling as she landed the craft.

Edward regarded her eyes suddenly taking on a semi-serious, but not cruel, light though the smile that laugh had brought stayed. She was quite strange, quite different, and he should have felt put off by it, even more.

But he found he wasn't.

"Mores in most cultures consider it an improper topic for public consumption," he afforded amused, both at stepping up a level in his language and commenting on her strange guilelessness that applies to everything.

"But everyone does it," she points out. "Well, except maybe on Messaline. No time in a war, not when we had the progenation machines to ensure survival anyway."

With a sigh, Jenny brought the shuttle in for a landing. There was the slightest of bumps when the ship touched ground. She didn't notice. She was too busy contemplating the oddness of human cultures and their taboos.

It didn't last for long, though. As soon as she shut down the engine, she was back to smiling. Jenny swirled around in the chair to look at Edward. "Welcome to Dagobah! Your first new planet! Excited, Edward?"

"I did say most," Edward corrected, waiting for her to stand first, then he could follow. "Not all societies on Earth feel that procreation or simply physical enjoyment is a taboo, just more of the prevailing ones do."

Even if it was rather a non-topic for him. It existed like science did. He knew about it and of it and the in's and out's and he didn't consider it outside of conversations and certain instances.

He rolled his eyes, but smiled as he followed her, watching her blonde hair as she walked.

"It still implied a majority," Jenny protested as she walked towards the back of the ship. "A majority of cultures that still shag, whether or not it's taboo to talk about it. Which is ridiculous, I think. How are you ever supposed to learn anything if you're not allowed to ask questions on a topic?"

There was a hint of frustration in her voice. It was, of course, one of the problems in surviving. There was just so much to catch up on, so much her inheritance hadn't prepared her for. She didn't like coming across as naive, but sometimes she felt as if she had no choice.

She turned to look at him briefly before keying in the code to open the shuttle door. The second the hatch popped open, a thick fog penetrated the artificial environment. Taking a deep breath, she jumped off the edge rather than lowering the stairs. Jenny landed easily on the soft dirt below.

"They don't."

Edward did the same thing following her, except his landing was soundless. If it weren't for the foot prints it might have been as though he hadn't landed.

"You did take my seriously," he murmured looking at the fog all around. His eyes didn't go to his hands because they didn't need to. There were endless trees around them and a moistness in the air he could taste and see more than feel.

He was stunned to find himself feeling disappointment at this being his first view of another world.

"I had no reason not to," she admitted with a small shrug, suddenly afraid he hated it. "You wanted someplace uninhabited. You wanted someplace without sunlight. And I promised you a swamp."

It wasn't the most glamorous place she had ever visited. In fact, Jenny found it on the bottom of any hypothetical list she might possess of places to visit. But it's what her friend (because Jenny considered Edward her friend no matter what he thought) wanted.

"It's usually more fun if there are people around. All sorts, Edward. Not just ones that look like me or you. If you're afraid of sticking out in a crowd, trust me when I say you won't. Not if there's a hermaphroditic hexapod walking alongside you. Or anything, really. There's a freedom out here in the universe that I don't think you find on Earth as easily."
