OOM: Edward needs to learn how to have fun.

"I think we'll start with Dagobah," Jenny told him as she walked towards the cockpit of her small shuttle. "According to my computer, it's a small swamp planet discovered a thousand years ago by a sect of Jedi who had broken away from the Second Great and Bountiful Human Empire after a deceleration decreeing all religions founded upon fictional works were null and void. There's not much there now. It's been abandoned... um, well, for a while."

She stopped by her chair, turning around to make sure that Edward had indeed followed her from Milliways.

Her shuttle wasn't much, Jenny knew, but she considered it her life. It was the only home she had (unless you counted the room in Milliways) and her only means of actually doing anything. Well, anything remotely interesting. Random knickknacks from various planets were scattered about the room, mostly concentrated away from the cockpit and in the back of the shuttle. A couple of photographs of herself and Bart were taped on to various walls. Her prized piece of psychic paper was lying underneath a stack of books.

It felt more like a home now than when she commandeered it from Messaline.

"Well?" Jenny slid into the pilot's seat and looked at him. "Whatcha think, Edward?"

Edward Cullen: Straight Face but relaxed

Edward walked through it, carelessly striding without fear of hitting anything, lingering at the things that were obviously not of Earth origin.

"It's nice." Small. Rather small. But nice.

He was feeling nervously wary since they were now alone and there were multiple way this could go, yet her mind seemed still the same. It was solely dedicated to making him have fun and letting him see the grandeur she loved so dear.

"Don't forget to close the hatch behind you," Jenny told him, waving a hand in the direction of the door. "I really don't want to test a vampire's vacuum durability today."

Nor did she feel like testing a Gallifreyan's, at that matter. Exploring the vacuum of space was one thing Jenny had not done yet. She wasn't in a hurry to test regeneration number two, or whatever it was, in this case.

She smiled at Edward as she buckled herself in. "There's blood in the freezing unit if you get thirsty. Pig's. Bar wouldn't give me human. And, well, it should be a quick trip to Dagobah from here - five or so minutes, I think - but I have books in here if you get bored. Or you can come up here and I can show you how to fly her."

Was that it? Was she properly being hospitable? The only other guest she's ever had was Bart and he didn't count.

He turned around and closed the hatch, more quickly in this space than he'd allowed himself in the all too public bar, listening to the sound of prattling words both in his ears and his mind.

Exuberance and nervousness clashing together with her own excitement.

Striding toward where she sat, he gave the controls a quizzical look. "How difficult is it?" Not that he actually expected it to rate up very high, but it was a considerate question to ask so long as they were both making the effort of being hospitably polite.

"It isn't," Jenny answered brightly, smiling up at him. Any lingering trace of nervousness was now gone at the question. She could already taste the thrill of adventure.

And it would be even better this time, what with proving to Edward that she was both a friend and someone he could have fun with.

But honesty would be helpful with that. "At least, uh, I think it's easy. Knowing how to fly a Class-B evacuation shuttle was part of my inheritance. Same with flying a Type-10 fighter ship, but I was in a hurry and those were under tighter guard."

She sounded disappointed at that last part.

Edward Cullen: Educating the childlike masses

Less in the way of defense, more in the way of sustainability. He approved of both depending on when and what it was being used for. The Aston was neither but he hadn't purchased it for either of those reasons either.

"I'll watch you." He said it with an air that seemed to make it obvious he wasn't worried about the learning or the five minute deadline.

Settling into a seat, he queried, his eyes moving between her face and hands with a speed she couldn't see (at least as much as he knew), "How did you come by those as inheritance?"

She couldn't see his movements per say, but after dating a speedster for a number of weeks, you learn to recognise a few signs. That blurish image from the corner of your eye, for example.

"I didn't know vampires were super fast," she stated conversationally, grinning as she began preperations for leaving the planetside. "I'm so going to have to get you to take me for a ride now."

Without waiting for any sort of questioning response, Jenny continued. "I'm a soldier. All children of the machine are born with the skills and knowledge necessary to make them the perfect battlefield trooper. Kill or die trying -- it was all I was ever supposed to know, Edward."

She glanced at him briefly, looking more serious and thoughtful than he ever probably saw her.

"Another unexpected respect for life," Edward mused, quietly echoing her earlier words after studying her expression.

"What is the machine? Was it on Gallifray?"

Jenny nodded, looking at him with a touch of sadness in her eyes before turning her attention back to the screen in front of her. In the process of their brief talk, she had already pulled out into orbit.

"It's a progenation machine. Takes cells from an individual and recombines them to create a new one. I was born on Messaline, where human and Hath were using them to fuel their war."

Jenny shrugged, glancing at him quickly again. She pulled on the yoke, guiding the ship into the hyperspace lane towards Dagobah.

"I was, um... I think you can say I was a mistake. As far as I know, progenation machines weren't used on Gallifrey."

He turned to watch the sky outside the cockpit area, looking over when her hands would move through gears. It was not all that complicated since they took thought and they labeled themselves through being known.

"Mistake, how?"

"They thought Dad was one of them," she explained. Although there was nothing but seriousness in her voice as she spoke, her blue eyes glowed with excitement.

That lull of adventure was calling.

"I think if he had realised what they were doing sooner, he would've stopped it. Too bad," Jenny muttered, sounding for all the universe like a petulant teen. and not the daddy's girl she more normally was "I like existing. All of it. There's too much to see and do and run."

A small, hopeful grin spread across her face. "Can you take me running when we get to Dagobah, Edward? At that super fast speed of yours? It's always been loads of fun when Jay did it. I miss that."

It wasn't too unlike another story he knew, but she'd had two months of it, not almost a century.

Then a speedster, a youngster, who smiled and evoked a whirl of feelings. Edward's expression didn't change as he stared at the stars. As much as she wasn't she was like a teenager, too. A paradox of coincidences.

"I've never been there before."

It was a wary reminder, even if that wasn't even a necessity to the decision.

She laughed at that, letting go of the controls to lean back in her chair. Not much was supposed to happen for those few remaining minutes in hyperspace.

"Uninhabited, remember?" Jenny rolled her eyes, giving him a look that served to remind him of her lack of stupidity. "No one's going to notice because there won't be anyone there. And running's fun. I'm supposed to be teaching you about that, remember? Fun and friendship?"

Edwards smile wasn't present but he had nearly scoffed in amusement at the announcement of her teaching him. That she had taken it on, that he was allowed her to continue her assumption that he didn't know them.

"You want to be run around an uninhibited planet, simply for the act of doing it?"

"Yeah," Jenny answered, eyes still glowing brightly. "Haven't you ever ran for the fun of it? It's brilliant! There's nothing else like it... except maybe sex with Jay. But well, nothing can ever beat running... unless..."

Jenny faltered, looking Edward over with curiosity. "Unless you have better ideas for something fun to do?"

Edward didn't pause at the sex comment but it added to the list of how she viewed, and spoke of, things extraordinarily different from everyone else.

"Running isn't too hard a task." His voice sounded oddly amused.

It would be more entertaining to see that world for him at his speed than it would making himself walk at her pace. It would be more...enjoyable.

"A task doesn't have to be difficult for it to be fun."

That was one thing she was certain of in this world. You could find fun and pleasure in the simplest things. Like running. The freedom involved in that was simply amazing. More than that: it was almost indescribable.

She certainly took it as such. Jenny grinned wickedly at him. He was a speed demon, wasn't he? Well, she certainly wouldn't complain. It wasn't the reason why she possibly loved Bart, but his mutual love of speed was definitely a major attractant.

"You bet!"

Less than a split second later, she dropped out of hyperspace and moved into a much faster gear.

"You should smile more," she told him, earnest and sincere in her words. Jenny looked way from the window for a few moments and grinned back. "You look really handsome - handsome is the word, right? - when you do."

She knew he'd probably dismiss her words without much thought, but Jenny didn't care. It was the sort of things friends told each other, wasn't it?

Jenny shrugged again before turning her attention back to her piloting. So he wanted to know how fast, huh? Well, there was only one way to tell him.

And that was to show him. By going as fast as she could; certainly faster than any Aston.

Edward Cullen: Edward Cullen is watching you

Edward had forced the smile to stay at the compliment, but it had stiffened. Her words reminded him of Tanya and of the high school girls, but her thoughts chattered onward innocent and helpful.

She was such a mystery.

Especially as she took that and threw it into flying.

He watched the universe outside of the window flying by, unable not to feel how it loosened how he sat and caused him to lean forward, attentiveness that he didn't struggle to conceal but was surprised she'd found a way to evoke.

"Can I drive us back?"

(He wondered how much time would be ripped apart when he bought one.)

She laughed at his question, too busy focusing on flying to pay any more attention to him than necessary. They were going fast and with Dagobah quickly approaching, she had to watch her movements. Make sure no other ship or space debris cut in front of them, that they wouldn't crash land into the planet, etc.

It wasn't difficult, but it did require some sort of concentration.

"If you think you can handle her!" Jenny laughed again, exuberant at the thought he may be enjoying this. "Maybe I'll let you set the path to Astroland, too. It's the next stop on our adventure."

He wasn't worried about her speed in the least. If he had to he could pick her up and maneuver with quicker control than she could. He just didn't know how the pod operated under sudden conditions.

"Astroland?" The was a dark note in that word, as he finally stopped looking out the window. He could see the idea of it in her mind and was trying not to wince.

"Astroland. A couple I met on Hyspero told me about it. Sounds like the perfect place to go if you want to have fun," Jenny stated, amused by that tone in his voice.

It seemed almost promising in what she decided was an entirely evil and mischievous sort of way. And that? That seemed fun. Well, fun to her anyway. Some voice in Jenny's head told her that Edward would probably think otherwise.

"I figured I ought to give you a whirlwind tour of what most people might think of as fun. There's supposed to be this coaster thing there that goes over 200 miles per hour at its fastest points! It ought to be brilliant!"

Edward's thoughtful expression betrayed the last part not to be as horrid as the first long ramble of explanation. When was the last time he'd been to a carnival? And how many fragile beings would be right near him?

It was hardly the same as an uninhabited, foggy planet.

And yet, his thought lingered on the singular temptation she offered with the new place, thinking he needed to be more careful around her enthuasism.

"You are quite strange," Edward said, but he was smiling as the ship registered their arrival.
