OOM: Bart and Umbeka!

"Sorry, buddy, looks like I won't be needing that coat after all."

Jenny flashes the bewildered man behind the counter a bright grin as she finally walks into the outer clothing store in Umbeka's spaceport. It only took a little more than a week, but if you ask her, it's totally been worth it.

Just look at the really cute guy she's dragging in behind her!

"Going to try a different form of fun instead," she continues. "Those hot springs that sign outside was bragging about! Where are they?"

He points in some vague direction that's good enough for Jenny. Still holding tightly on to Bart's hand, she walks back out the door and in to the busy space station.

Welcome to another planet, Bart!

Yeah, that would so be Bart. He wouldn't sit still long enough to become the Judoon's test subject. He'd totally go and make a mess of things!

Eagerly, Jenny picks up pace within the air vent until reaching the grating where the clattering sound came from. She lifts her head up carefully (if not uncomfortably), trying to peer inside.

"Bart?"

His attention migrates in a downward-and-sideways fashion from its previous position going 'WHOOPS' at the fallen technology.

"Hey," he says, usefully, grin breaking out over his face.

His grin causes a new one to break out all over Jenny's face. She can't help it really.

"Hi," she echoes like a teenage girl before realising she came here with a mission in mind.

Right. She needs to get Bart out. "Think you can step back and knock over some more things?"

Possibly because, a second or two after he says it, it is done.

"I hope you have a plan for this."

Cause he doesn't, really.

She does. Sort of.

Okay, so what if she's better at making it up as she goes along? It's a family trait, thank you, and one that's proved to be quite useful to her Dad!

"Sure do," Jenny lies, moving Bart's back pack out of the way and falling on her back. She looks at the grate for a moment before kicking it with force. Less than a second later, she's sticking her head out of the hole in the floor and smiling at him.

And that would be him, grinning back from the bed, despite ankle that is rather visibly swollen to the metaphorical size of a bowling ball.

Jenny winces when she sees his ankle, feeling some sort of emotion akin to guilt. It's not a pretty emotion at all. In fact, Jenny can't stand it.

She hoists herself up out of the vent, her grin faltering slightly. A couple of steps and she's over by the bed, sitting next to him.

"Got your backpack. How long do you think we have until the Judoon get here?"

His grin, on the other hand, widens, especially with mention of his backpack.

"I don't know."

Beat.

"How long's it been?"

Pulling himself off the bed to totter on one foot because he is not crawling before absolutely necessary, thank you. Hopping is less demeaning.

"Rhino what? Oh! You mean the Judoon," Jenny says, getting off the bed and slinging one of his arms around her shoulder. He can hop better if he had help.

"They're police. Universal police. Don't know what they want with you, but I think it has something to do with your speed. I broke into Umbeka's computer system while trying to find a way to get to you."

Everyone always wants him for his speed, and not his rapier-sharp wit or sparkling conversational skills. ._.

"It's totally okay," Jenny assures him when they reach the vent. She pats a gun tucked into the waist of her trousers. "I'm so not going to let them take you."

They're at the vent, anyway, so the hopping can cease. Now they just get to figure out how to get him down in there without landing on his ankle!

"I just," insert flippant tone here, "don't plan to do the lab rat thing again, let alone another planet."

Especially one with a name like 'Desparon'.

"I won't let you," she answers softly, in a more caring tone than she's ever used before. There's a look to match in her blue eyes when she strokes his cheek.

It's gone in a second, replaced by a grin of excitement. "I'll go down first! And then help you down. I'm strong enough. We're not that far from the docking bay, so it won't be long, I swear."

At any rate, he lowers himself down, legs flailing slightly in an attempt to find where Jenny is without hitting her, because he is not jumping like this.

Jenny's hands grasp his hips and she helps him downward carefully. Despite her size, she is quite song. It's the supersoldier in her.

"There," she says when he's inside the vent system too. "All good?"

Bart's backpack gets slung back over Jenny's shoulder before she gets down on her hands and knees. She glances back to make sure he's following suit (and not gawking at her instead).

"I'd give us about a five minute head start," she states as the vent begins to vibrate with movement from up above. "Or less! Let's go!"
