Molly's ninth birthday party (Mohinder's loft, NYC)
She had arrived in New York City a couple of days early to buy the supplies various people had recommended to set up the birthday party. It had been hard not to get distracted by all the people and buildings (it was almost as fascinating as New New York), but thankfully, Mohinder had been willing to help - even offer his loft as the place to hold the party.

Halloween eve arrived quickly enough. Jenny stood in the center of the room, dressed as Supergirl to match Molly's idea of Batgirl. Although she still didn't understand the whole comic book idea, the man in the store had assured her it would be fitting. She surveyed her work and beamed.

The loft was decorated with fake spiderwebs and ghouls and cute little black bats and spiders. In some corners were gravestones with buckets of candy on top of the small mounds. A CD of Halloween tunes played, alternating with groans and creaks and cackles. A witch and a broom hung from the ceiling right near a large banner that exclaimed "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOLLY!"

It looked good. The cake, in the middle of a table filled with all sorts of junk food and non-alcoholic drinks, also read Happy Birthday Molly, and stood on a platter as the centerpiece. A nearby table was set up for gifts; Jenny had hers placed in one corner - a pocket watch styled three-dimensional map of the known universe.

Everything was ready to go.

"I think you will be a hero, and I am glad that you have good role models!" Addie always loved to see children who were happy.

"Oh yes, you can fight bad guys and save all the grownups from bad things. No one expects the kids to do the saving"

Molly beamed brighter than any beacon, any Christmas light and any headlights on a car driving in the dead of night. All she gave in response to Addie's comments were a bright smile and body standing tall and proud, hands on her hips gave the added effect.

After a moment Molly held her hand out to Addie, blue eyes gazing at her brown eyes curiously, "Would you like to play a game? Guests are choosing, not me. It isn't fair that I choose everything when people are nice enough to come."

Addie smiled, amused. Molly looked like a hero at that moment, proud and brave, with her hands on her hips. She would be one day, hopefully with the same, genuine heartwarming smile.

Addie took her hand, and nodded to the girl. "Yes, what games to you have? That is nice of you to let guests choose."

"Board games, I think? Oh! Twister too!" She bounced on the balls of her feet, leading Addie toward the other people--trying too, at least. If her guests were there she wanted them all to be best, best friends. At least, for her, just for an hour or two. That couldn't hurt--right?

"Claire," gesturing with her free hand toward the blonde teenager in a feminine style of Lewis Caroll's Madhatter, "Suggested all of us group together to decide what to do! And if anyone else comes, we can ask them what they want to do, too!"

"Twister?" Addie had never played that game. She wasn't sure if she could twist on all of the colored circles, but she would try anything at least once.

"I do not think I know Claire, but I like her costume. She had a very good idea."
