She even remembered to leave a note this time.
It was a first for her, to remember to leave notes behind in Milliways. One to Bart to let him know she'd be back shortly (and with a gift for him), one to Teddy to tell him Bart would take care of whatever needs he may have while she was gone, and one to Edward in case Alice had failed to tell them where they had gone (which she doubted, but she thought Edward would still appreciate the maturity).

And that was that. The shuttle fridge was stocked with deer blood provided by Bar in case her guest got hungry. The interior itself was as neat as it would ever get; scattered with souvenirs of her travels. By the console were photographs: of Jenny and Bart mostly, although Alice would be able to recognise a certain bronze haired individual sitting next to the Gallifreyan in another.

She turned around as soon as there was space for Alice to fit in as well and smiled brightly. It felt good to escape, just for a while. Really good.

"Like it?" Jenny tilted her head, watching the vampire with curiosity. "Edward did. He liked flying her more than anything, I think."

Alice slid her hands into the pockets of her jacket as she looked around, taking everything in. It was nice, it was something new to ogle.

Alice, like her brothers and sister, loved to go fast and she was positive this ship would not disappoint.

She smiled, studying Jenny. "It's lovely. And I'm sure he did."

Someday, the shuttle would break down from speeding abuse. But, thankfully for the pair, today wasn't that day. Jenny beamed brightly in return, continuing to walk the short distance to the cockpit.

"I have deer blood in the fridge if you get hungry. And... and you can sit up front with me or stay back here," she offered, remembering for a split second Edward's sometimes aversion to closeness in confined spaces. "We're currently on Florana but I've found a shopping planet not too far away."

While Alice's track record is not as shining as Carlisle's or Rosalie's, Alice gestures at the cockpit. "I'll be fine."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 6th, 2008 01:39 am (UTC)
"Brilliant," she responded, bouncing towards the cockpit. She slipped in the pilot's seat and pulled on the crash-harness. "Watch closely and I'll let you fly her later, okay?"
Alice Whitlock Cullen: sees it coming[personal profile] betagainstme on December 15th, 2008 04:47 pm (UTC)
"Okay." Alice grinned, sliding into the co-pilot's seat, fastening the crash-harness with quick fingers. "My husband's going to wonder where the hell I got all the new clothes."

A squeak. "I'm so excited."

Yay clothes :D
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 16th, 2008 04:06 am (UTC)
"Can't you bring him here?" Jenny asked, not even blinking when she fastened the harness with faster-than-normal speed. The sorts of things you get used to when in love with a speedster. "Tell him about Milliways? Like Edward did for you?"

As she talked, she prepped the ship for take off.
Alice Whitlock Cullen: other half of me[personal profile] betagainstme on December 16th, 2008 09:40 pm (UTC)
"Jasper," Alice begins, a soft smile on her face, one that resonates the love she has for her husband. "He would love it, as long as I love it. But he would be uncomfortable. I want to tell him, I think Edward and I will soon."

She knows they will. She's predicting.

"But it would take a lot of getting used to for him." She looks out the window, her fingers going to the choker around her neck as she thinks about Jasper. "But I have faith in him."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 17th, 2008 03:15 am (UTC)
Jenny smiled softly, too. That was getting to be a sort of look she recognised, one she felt like she wore rather often when talking or thinking about Bart.

"Why would he feel uncomfortable?" she inquired, glancing at Alice as the ship broke orbit. "People there are friendly. And I don't think most of them know what species you are."

"He is newest to our lifestyle. He lived for years like others of our kind. The change has been difficult for him." Alice shuts her eyes for a moment before glancing at Jenny. "And all those people. It's worse than high school."

Alice sighs. "He'd go, though. For me."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 17th, 2008 05:02 pm (UTC)
"Is it the smell?" Jenny asked bluntly, not looking or acting at all out of place given the discussion. "Humans smell good to you, right? What about Gallifreyans? Do I smell good?"
Alice Whitlock Cullen: i'm totally happy[personal profile] betagainstme on December 17th, 2008 05:06 pm (UTC)
"Yes, they smell good." Alice nods, grinning at the girl's bluntness. "So very good, and for Jasper, who has been feeding on them a lot longer than any of us, it's very hard."

Alice leans forward and breathes in, near Jenny, and grins. "You smell good, but a little off. A little too much of something...alien."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 17th, 2008 05:12 pm (UTC)
Jenny laughed in return. She had been piloting the ship long enough by now that it came as second nature to her. Some section of her brain ran on autopilot as her hands flew across the dashboard and the ship shifted into sub-space.

"You don't smell like a human, either." She took a strong sniff and wrinkled her nose. "Too sweet. Jay smells much better."
Alice Whitlock Cullen: this is my family[personal profile] betagainstme on December 17th, 2008 05:14 pm (UTC)
Alice mock-glowers. "My scent is designed to draw you in, make you want to be close. All that much easier to strike."

She sighs. "It probably doesn't work on you anyway, my little alien sister."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 17th, 2008 05:25 pm (UTC)
She had a sensible reply to that, something about tactics and strategy that came to mind first. It all flew out the window the moment Alice called her sister.

Instead, Jenny beamed brightly. "Do you mean that? The sister part?"
Alice Whitlock Cullen: freaks among freaks[personal profile] betagainstme on December 17th, 2008 05:26 pm (UTC)
"Of course," Alice reaches over to pat Jenny's arm. "Us freaks have to stick together."

Her, Edward and Jenny~
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 17th, 2008 05:30 pm (UTC)
It's kind of funny how fast the idea forms in Jenny's mind. She understands Edward's reluctance to let her go to school in Forks with him. He has to protect his family and, as of now, only Alice knows of Milliways.

But if Alice were on her side, wouldn't that make things easier?

"Does that apply to everything, Alice?"
Alice Whitlock Cullen: i'm totally happy[personal profile] betagainstme on December 17th, 2008 06:47 pm (UTC)
Alice gives her a look and eyes her a bit warily. "It depends, Jenny."

Her family's safety is very important.
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 17th, 2008 09:33 pm (UTC)
"What about me going to school with you and Edward? I wouldn't ever do anything to endanger your family," she added in, remembering Edward's biggest concern. "Ever. You have my oath as a soldier that I'd obey and lay down my life for theirs if it came to it."
Alice Whitlock Cullen: sees it coming[personal profile] betagainstme on December 17th, 2008 09:37 pm (UTC)
Alice grimaces and looks away. "It is not a decision I can make on my own, Jenny." She bites down on her lip. "And it's not that I don't trust you not to tell people, it's something my family must discuss together, it affects us all."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 18th, 2008 02:46 am (UTC)
"I expect that," Jenny answers, looking a tad confused at Alice's reaction. There wasn't anything to get upset over, was there? "I'd just like it if you'd put in a good word for me when your family knows about Milliways. That's how it works, right?"
Alice Whitlock Cullen[personal profile] betagainstme on December 18th, 2008 02:51 am (UTC)
"Of course." Alice nods. "I can give you that."

Whether or not attending Forks High is safe, on the other hand, Alice will have to think on that.
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 18th, 2008 03:12 am (UTC)
And, webbing aside, Jenny leans over in the seat to give her a quick hug.

"Thank you!"
Alice Whitlock Cullen: sees it coming[personal profile] betagainstme on December 18th, 2008 03:19 am (UTC)
Alice hugs her back, careful to not be too hard. "Of course, Jenny."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 18th, 2008 04:02 am (UTC)
"On to the Mall, now?"

(It's big enough to deserve capitalization, really.)
Alice Whitlock Cullen[personal profile] betagainstme on December 18th, 2008 04:03 am (UTC)
"Absolutely." The smile Alice gives might be a little...scary.
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 18th, 2008 10:29 pm (UTC)
Maybe a little manic, but certainly not scary.

Time lapse aside, which is probably filled with senseless chatter about boyfriends and husbands, they arrive.

And, lo, like Jenny promised: it is a planet dedicated entirely to shopping.

"Welcome to the Mall!"
Alice Whitlock Cullen: flamingo baseball player[personal profile] betagainstme on December 18th, 2008 10:32 pm (UTC)
"Holy..." Alice drifts off, her eyes wide. She hesitates to say this (because it might hurt Paris' feelings D:!!) but, "It's better than France!"
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 19th, 2008 03:14 am (UTC)
"France is on Earth, right?"

Just checking. There are way too many countries on Earth to keep track of them all sometimes.
Alice Whitlock Cullen: i'm totally happy[personal profile] betagainstme on December 19th, 2008 03:16 am (UTC)
"Yes, I do a lot of my shopping there. They have a great underwear selection." Alice grins. "Oooh, Jenny, you're the best for bringing me here."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on December 20th, 2008 02:44 am (UTC)
"I am?"

Jenny doesn't necessarily agree that bringing Alice shopping qualifies her as the best, but compliments still are nice.

"I thought this is the sort of things sisters do."
