Chance encounters (RP for [livejournal.com profile] bodlygoes)
She had been on Inferna Prime for five days now and was quickly growing bored out of her mind. It wasn't that the major city was dull or anything. It was just that, at last check, her own ship was still in repair.

Which meant, no matter how interesting this place was, she was landlocked. And one thing Jenny had discovered in her year of travelling was that being stuck on planet was absolutely awful.

With a sigh, she downed the rest of her cocktail and stared at the Federation troops entering the saloon.

Kirk's in the front of the pack obviously, and makes a beeline for the bar. After all these diplomatic negotiations, he can really use a drink. Just because he's the captain of Starfleet's flagship doesn't mean he doesn't get to have any fun.

Especially not where cute blondes are concerned. He puts on his best smile before asking, "Can I get you a drink? You look like you're in need of some Grade-A cheer."

She watched them as the group split up in to smaller ones, making their way about the room. Her attention is diverted when the leader of the pack stops in front of her at the bar and smiles.

Jenny blinked and quickly remembered to smile back. "Yeah. Yeah, definitely."

"Good. You ever had Jack Daniels?" he asks just loudly enough to be heard over the cacophony of the bar, and sits down beside her.

It was a vague enough drink name that it could be familiar. But in the end, she shakes her head and pulls her stool closer to hear him.

"Don't think so. Is it any good?"

"Very good. It's Earth's best whiskey, and even given all the different whiskeys in this crazy universe, it still rates probably in the top ten."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on July 22nd, 2009 04:21 pm (UTC)
"Earth," she answers wistfully. Jenny's heard all - still - she hasn't made it there. "Someday I'll get there. Someday."

Translation: of course she'll try it.

"Two Jack Daniels, please," Kirk signals to the bartender with a smile. "You haven't been?"
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on July 23rd, 2009 06:10 pm (UTC)
She shook her head, sighing slightly. "No."

And now her ship was broken and at this rate, she'd never leave this stupid planet.
[identity profile] boldlygoes.livejournal.com on July 23rd, 2009 06:27 pm (UTC)
"Why? I mean, if you don't mind me asking."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on July 23rd, 2009 06:35 pm (UTC)
"Right now?"

Easier than getting in the whole logistics of things.

"I'm stranded. The transmission in my shuttle gave way while I was landing on this stupid planet. Nearly crashed - which was brilliant - but... yeah. Stranded."

She wrinkled her nose in disgust, to let the man know just how awful a concept it was.

"Damn. Well, are you getting it fixed, at least?" Kirk's expression is neutral; he's trying to figure out a way to help her.
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on July 23rd, 2009 08:22 pm (UTC)
"For days now."

The drinks arrived and Jenny holds up one of the glasses in Kirk's direction, smiling her thank you. Then, with a slight sigh, she downed her glass.

"That's too bad. But if you could get it back from the shop... we might be able to take a look at it on my ship, if it's just a small vessel."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on July 24th, 2009 12:27 am (UTC)
"Class II military shuttle," she answered, unable to help the grin crossing her face. "It was mainly designed as an emergency evacuation shuttle in case the Messaline colony mission didn't work. It's small. Very small."

Her grin brightened. "How big is your ship?"
[identity profile] boldlygoes.livejournal.com on July 24th, 2009 03:20 am (UTC)
"Big. Very big."
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on July 24th, 2009 03:27 am (UTC)
"Yeah?"

By all means, go on!
[identity profile] boldlygoes.livejournal.com on July 24th, 2009 03:43 am (UTC)
"You want to see it after we're done?"
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on July 24th, 2009 04:40 am (UTC)
"Yeah!"

Her smile is brilliant.

"Yeah, I'd love to!"
[identity profile] boldlygoes.livejournal.com on July 24th, 2009 08:13 pm (UTC)
"I think we've got ourselves a plan, then," Kirk says, pleased.
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on July 25th, 2009 05:26 pm (UTC)
She giggled, flashing a smile at him. "Think it might help to get a name, too. I'm Jenny."
[identity profile] boldlygoes.livejournal.com on July 26th, 2009 07:26 pm (UTC)
"Captain James T. Kirk, at your service," he says, smiling and taking her hand to kiss it.

She giggles at the action, flashing him a coy smile in return. Smooth talkers like James T. Kirk always seem to be entertaining.

"Brilliant to meet you, Captain!"
[identity profile] boldlygoes.livejournal.com on August 11th, 2009 01:55 am (UTC)
"I can say the same for you, Jenny. Obviously something brought us together today, didn't it?"
[identity profile] bitunlikely.livejournal.com on August 25th, 2009 02:44 am (UTC)
"A broken ship?" Her lips quirk into a small smile. "Or something grander?"
